Bio

Hello, my name is Michael. I’m a guitarist born in New York and raised in Denver, CO. I have over 35 years of playing and writing experience. Originally trained in jazz but skilled in rock, blues, funk and improv.

I first began studying music in grade school by playing the trumpet. However, I transformed myself over the ensuing years into a self taught metal and rock guitarist while also learning some of the bass guitar. The rhythm guitar along with the bass helped me understand how the rhythm section is formed and ties a song together. Experimentation with fusion has always been part of my work and is a catalyst in what led me to jazz lessons. Playing lead guitar can be a different challenge, but I accept the unique opportunity for self expression and musical improvement. Although my guitar roots are strongest in rock, I believe that playing and listening to different styles of music has inspired my playing and writing. Realizing the similarities and differences between genres helped me develop my own style of playing which still evolves and serves me today.

I’m currently searching for collaborators  who want and need original guitar parts for their music. In progress pieces or more completed works are both fine. The only prerequisite is the desire to make music that we feel is strong. A great musician said “there are no rules”. So let’s let our minds flow.
